Characters

1.     Gabriel – real name is Anwell. Main character. He is a boy that is dying at age 20. The book goes through in flashbacks to show is life. He lives in a small town and has no friends. He ends up meeting Finnigan, who becomes his friend and his dog, Surrender. Gabriel has a hard home life because if parents do not care too much and his brother has a mental disorder.

2.     Finnigan- Only friend of Gabriel. Homeless.  Has dog Surrender. He sets fires around the town. It turns out he is the other personality of Gabriel.

3.     Parents- Mom and Dad, are the parents of Gabriel and Vernon. The Dad is a lawyer.  The Dad is abusive toward Gabriel. They are not the best parents and they do not seem to care about their children that much. Gabriel ends up killing them with a hatchet. 

4.     Vernon- the older brother of Gabriel. Has a mental disorder.  Dies from when Gabriel was young he put him in the refrigerator.

5.     Aunt Sarah- Gabriel’s nurse, he thinks its his aunt caretaker

6.     Evangeline- Girl that Gabriel falls for, and wants to protect. Finnigan does not like her.
